Final 04:06
The final words that I heard you say Will echo in my mind for all my days A fleeting glimpse of a simple time And traces of a life just passing by Symptoms of the past Some might stay and some won't last Symbols etched in glass Stare straight through them still The way it was is because we were And little left remains, of this I'm sure A hazy scene that I seem to know The colors faded years and years ago Fade into Symptoms of the past Some might say that they don't last Symbols etched in glass Stare straight through them still Symptoms of the past Some might find it hurts to ask Sympathy en masse Sometimes it won't come to pass Symbols etched in glass Stare straight through them still Stare straight through them still

Light a flame Catch a spark between your teeth Spin the blame Let the lie bring you relief Every story passed down Whispered in our ears Crystal clear Show the whole world it ends here Make yourself at home Hang up your coat, pull up a chair No one eats alone Fade into what you wanted to shut out along Strike the stage Send the cast out in the wind Tear the page The belief we never sinned Each adapted passage Bending backwards now Take a bow Swear one final solemn vow chorus Dead serious, there's no way to take it back What we began is now brought to an end The flashing lights, the images still trapped in time And many measured words that don't mean what they meant chorus
3.
I remember your sister's braided hair I remember the weight of all your fear No one reappears, or answers all your prayers Like any other year I remember a muted smell of smoke I remember everything you know The atmosphere was cold, no laughter just a joke Then it overflows The colors of bark and moss See the flame, see the moth When everything fades away A recollection still remains I remember she almost smiled at me I surrendered, while you were asleep Covered in the weeds, growing in between Tangled in debris chorus Everything is different now Everything is different now Everything is different now Everything is different now

No One Else 03:56
I forget what you said on the day when we met There was no one else there who can remind me So I'll make a request for the man in the past Nothing else here can define me Why the way to your door turns like never before I can't see shapes, the lines that lead me And I'll make a confession, I don't have any weapons There's no one else who can define me I've never told a lie before Maybe I should start right now, start right now Can't be sure what I can answer for But I better start now, start right now Start to settle down Here's what you said on the day when we met, "There's no one else I want beside me" So I'll take a request for the man in the past Send someone else out here to find me chorus

Went First 03:30
Uninvited, set aside Buyer beware, 'cause there's no free ride A thousand steps, an endless climb They know how to get to you every time Can't keep a secret to save your life Broken promise, made to yourself Hide it away back up on your shelf An empty page, a chosen son Forget all the favors we won't outrun Can't keep a secret to save your life Can't keep a secret to save your life Shifted focus, distracting us all Pack up your things 'cause they said "last call" A final chance, a proof untried The thoughts I don't know are the thoughts you hide chorus 2x
6.
Close your eyes, and see everything inside Shallow haze, a moving history, exactly what you see Open wide, show me everything you hide All those shadows, they weren't here before I was awake the whole time The whole time How could you take the whole time The whole time I'm so tired, what's the chemistry you tried No one else is really here at all, if what you say is true Open mind, I see everything collide Braided hair, your empty alibi chorus
7.
That's a day and you're better for it Another burn, a broken corner Another girl, another turn of this I'm not gonna wake up all of the night, and I'm not gonna wake up all of the night, and I'm not gonna wake up all of the night, and I'm not gonna wake up all of the night, and I'm not gonna wake up all of the night, and I'm not gonna wake up all of the night, and I'm not gonna wake up all of the night, and I'm not gonna wake up all of the night That’s a break, you’ll never catch it Another flash, the record scratches If it stops, remember all of this chorus 2x Better be something on the way Better be something on the way down Better be something on the way Better be something on the way down

about

Four years after its last project, Blackheart Dinosaur reconvened to create a more creatively focused and cohesive collection of songs. The collaboration was shaped by the necessity of remote recording/sharing, and a commitment to finding the common ground among our diverse influences and personal styles.

"Vol. 2" is for anyone who enjoys a good song and a sad story.
